Recently I’ve been struggling to consistently trust God in hard situations. Not just “head trust” but also “gut trust”. So I have been thinking about what I can learn from Abraham, “the friend of God”.
The Bible is honest in describing several times when Abraham and his wife Sarah failed to trust God. Nevertheless, Hebrews chapter 11, “God’s Hall of Fame,“ uses Abraham and Sarah as examples of faith.
After much thought I see why God was pleased with Abraham. Abraham TRUSTED God to keep his promises.
“Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith. He was even called the friend of God.” (James 2:23 NLT)
Coffee/tea thought: Imagine a friend who believes what you promise to him or her, even though at times it may seem that you have forgotten. Wouldn’t this deepen your feelings of relationship with your friend?
