The greatest scholar in medieval Europe was Alcuin (~735-804 AD), an Anglo-Saxon Christian born and educated in York, England.
In his mid-40s, at the request of Charlemagne, King of the Franks, Alcuin moved to France to lead what became the most influential group of Christian scholars in Europe. He spent the last 8 years of his life there.
The prayer below by Alcuin is found in almost every Anglican prayer book in the world. Allow his deep love for God to draw you nearer God, too.
Coffee/tea thought: O God, to whom each heart is open, every desire speaks and from whom no secret lies hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily praise You.
