Encouragement From The Past

中文:Chinese Version

We can benefit from earlier generations. This morning I was encouraged by a hymn of Paul Gerhardt (1656 AD):

Though years on years roll on,
His covenant shall endure;
Though clouds and darkness hide His path,
The promised grace is sure.

Give to the winds your fears;
Hope, and be undismayed;
God hears your sighs and counts your tears;
God shall lift up your head.

Leave to His sovereign sway
To choose and to command;
So shall you, wondering, acknowledge His way,
How wise, how strong His hand.

Coffee/tea ThoughtCoffee/tea thought: How do the words and phrases Gerhardt chose provide insight into his life? Let his trust in God’s sovereign and good hand working in his life speak to your own heart to day.
