Christina Rossetti 3

中文: Chinese Version

A Christmas poem by Christiana Rossetti has been put to music in the well-known Christmas song, “In the bleak mid-winter.” In the final stanza, Rossetti asks herself:

“What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?

If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,

If I were a wise man
I would do my part,

Yet what I can I give Him?
— Give my heart.”

Here the author expresses her deep love for God which moves her to give him the most costly gift she could bring.

Coffee ThoughtCoffee/tea thought: How do you suppose God might feel about Rossetti’s choice of gift for him?
