Ancient Hymn 2
Win and I like to listen to young people.
When we ask whether they are a spiritual person, without exception, they reply, “Yes.” Often these 20-30 somethings are not sure if there is Truth, and don’t know how to find it. They are usually not involved in a church, but they are open to Jesus.
Many 20-30s are interested in what ancient Christian writers have to say. In this regard, Bernard of Clairvaux’s famous 12th century hymn speaks to us in the 21st-century:
Your truth unchanged has ever stood,
You rescue those who on You call:
to those yet seeking, You are good –
to those who find You, All-in-All.
Bernard sings that those who search for Jesus find unchanging Truth, in a Relationship, with Him who can become their All-in-All.
Coffee/tea thought: Lord, Jesus, the Way, the Truth, the Life, the desire of my heart is for You to be my All-in-All.
