Not Disappointed

A while back, a reader responded to an AO Note:

“I hate these times of troughs. I understand they are necessary but I hate that I can’t feel God. I hate that I can’t seem to break through.”

John’s response:

Ah, yes, it is awful when we don’t feel God! One of the authors mentioned in the AO Note, Thomas H. Green, says that all followers of Christ experience dry times. His little paperback book, WHEN THE WELL RUNS DRY, is all about this. Very readable.

In our dry times, like the AO respondent above, when we don’t sense God’s presence at all, we can be assured that His care and love have not lessened. Joseph in his dungeon, Ruth the destitute widow and childless Hannah all waited on Him and were not disappointed.

Coffee ThoughtCoffee/tea thought: Thank You, Lord, that Your love and power and working in my life are not measured by my own perspective. You do bring springs of refreshment. But I must be patient to await _Your_ timing.

John
